Pizza #18: Louisiana

As we’re getting ready for some more pizza action tomorrow, I realized I never told you all about our Louisiana Pizza from last week.  So please, let me tell you now!

It. Was. Delicious.2013-04-05 18.25.05Tommy and I both voted this Muffuletta Pizza as our number one so far.  Any other ‘top pizzas’ have now been replaced.  Boom!

Not only is it filled with a delicious olive salad, two types of meat, and lots of cheese, it also is double crusted.  With even more cheese on top.  Talk about YUM!2013-04-05 18.06.51My dear sister-in-law took charge of the olive salad, and totally rocked it, I might add! I got the crust rollin’, and Tommy whipped up a batch of his sauce.

There was so much flavor bursting out the seams-literally.  And the top crust, drizzled in olive oil and covered with cheese and crushed red pepper, was so unbelievably crispy and wonderful.2013-04-05 18.09.01I’d say we all made a pretty good team, and were all 100% satisfied with the results.  I don’t doubt that this pizza will be made again someday in the not-to0-far future.  And for your sake, I hope it’s in your near future as well!!2013-04-05 18.25.05



1.) Roll out 1/2 batch of  Homemade Pizza Crust and place on pizza stone {or on a pan}.

2.) Spread a layer of Tommy’s Sauce on the crust

3.) Top with diced pieces of Genoa Salami and Black Forest Ham.

4.) Spoon on Katie’s Olive Salad

1 (6 ounce) can black olives, drained and sliced

1 (5 ounce) jar pitted green olives, drained and sliced
1 (6.5 ounce) jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1/8 cup red wine vinegar
1/8 cup olive oil
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
3/4 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Mix all ingredients in bowl and stir well to blend flavors.  Best if chilled in refrigerator for a couple of hours before eating.

5.) Sprinkle on a generous amount of mozzarella and provolone cheese.

6.) Roll out other half of pizza dough and place on top.  Pinch together edge of crust to form a seam with the bottom crust.

7.) Drizzle with olive oil and add another generous amount of cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.  Sprinkle with crushed red pepper.

8.) Bake at 450 degrees F for 15-20 minutes until crust is golden brown.
