Pizza #20: Maryland

Umm, okay, so does life ever slow down??? I’m guessing probably not!

We didn’t try a new pizza this past week, but I do have a pizza from two weeks ago. That’s right…TWO WEEKS AGO! I’m a little behind.  Oops!

After we made Maryland’s ‘Flag’ Pizza, my brother and his girlfriend came in for the weekend.  We made an unexpected trip down to El Dorado the beginning of the week, and then I headed to Oklahoma City for my best friend’s baby shower this past weekend.  Somehow in the middle of all that, I still went in to teach a few days, leaving zero time for blogging. Whew!

Like I said, does life ever slow down??

Well, since things are often hectic for many of us, here’s a pizza recipe that is not only delicious, but is also quick and gives you a variety of flavorful toppings all on the same pizza. Hopefully this results in a pie that is pleasing to the taste buds of all who eat it, 🙂2013-04-19 16.51.33Maryland’s pizza is a tribute to the Italian flag and is made up of three different sauce/cheese combos: {Red} Pizza Sauce with five cheeses, {White} Garlic-Alfredo sauce with ricotta, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese, and {Green} Pesto sauce covered with slices or fresh mozzarella.

We just made a small pizza this time, using half a batch of pizza dough.  Tommy made his pizza sauce, we sauteed garlic to add to Alfredo sauce, and mixed up a pack of pesto sauce.  You can make this as easy as you want by buying the sauces pre-made, or go all out and mix up your own.  For the six cheeses on the red sauce, we used a mix of Parmesan, Mozzarella, Provolone, Asiago, Romano, and Cheddar.  But feel free to branch out and pick your own variety.2013-04-19 16.51.12I loved the green and white sections.  Tommy preferred the red.  With this tricolor variety we were both satisfied, and I’m sure you will be too!
