Pizza #25: Montana

As promised, here is Montana’s Pizza Recipe. We had planned to make it one evening and share it with some friends, and make a whole game night out of it. But plans changed and we squeezed it in for a quick lunch before heading out of town again.

I like to refer to this pizza as a Deluxe Pepperoni Pizza. In Montana, they simply call it the ‘Best Pizza Ever’. It was pretty good, but I don’t know if I’d take it that far, πŸ˜‰

The Best Pizza ever starts with a whole wheat crust and is topped with gorgonzola cheese, roasted red peppers, garlic, red onions, and pepperoni. We decided to put our own slight spin on things, and roasted the red peppers, garlic, and onion-bringing out the flavor and a little extra sweetness in each.20130724-084157.jpgWe topped our whole wheat crust with Tommy’s Sauce, then added the gorgonzola and pepperoni.20130724-084150.jpg Normally we would have WAY more cheese than this, but gorgonzola can come off a little strong sometimes—like blue cheese—and I just wasn’t quite feeling it that day. Unfortunately, we were also out of our pizza blend of shredded cheese, so we just had minimal cheese this time. {Never again..}
After our veggies finished roasting, we sliced them up, tossed them on the pizza, and stuck it in the oven to bake.20130724-084144.jpgThe final result was full of flavor and not too shabby. But I’m pretty sure next time we won’t hold back on the cheese. Β After all, you can never have too much cheese, right?! RIGHT! πŸ˜‰20130724-084135.jpg
